•SET A GOAL, MAKE A PLAN, MAKE THE COMMITMENT!
Decide what you want the most. Set out a specific goal and write it down. You're not serious if you don't write it down and make it permanent. Next, make a plan to set out and achieve those goals. You won't go anywhere or accomplish anything without a plan or map to guide you! Once you set your goal and make a plan, make the commitment to stick to it! No matter what obstacle that gets in your way, you will stay focused and reach your destination...SUCCESS!
•LEARN TO EAT! DON'T DIET!
Don't starve yourself and fall into the trend of these fad diets that make people yo-yo up and down with their weight. Learn how to eat according to you, your lifestyle and your foods that you like to eat. Proper nutrition shouldn't be something you practice when it's time to work on those New Year's Resolutions. It should be something we understand and focus on everyday! You'll always hear how nutrition is 75-80% of your success when it comes to achieving the physical results you want and it's true. Misunderstand the science behind foods and proper nutrition and you can spin your wheels and never do anything. Learn how to eat the whole foods you love, rather than survive off shakes and supplements all day.
•GET MOBILE! BUILD THE FOUNDATION.
Get active! First focus on beginning to move and strengthening the foundation for all of our basic everyday movements. As children we learned how to crawl, stand, walk, climb naturally and as we age past a certain point, if we don't reinforce those movements and how to do them properly to prevent injury, we lose that natural ability. Every day should contain some form of building more upon the foundation of functional movements we use in our lives, jobs, activities, etc. From there, you can start to better your overall physical performance with other complex or isolated exercises to achieve whatever physical goals you set out to attain.
•IT'S A LIFESTYLE!...NOT A 90-DAY FIX.
Realize that it's not a 90-day quick-fix program or 21-day jump start plan. It's a lifestyle! Those who make fitness and proper nutrition a consistent staple of their everyday routine, see the most success over their lifetime. They don't battle much with the up and down struggle of weight-gain and weight-loss and lose the worry that comes along with it. They simply set goals, accomplish them and move on to the next! So learn how to adapt and make the changes necessary to live the lifestyle of you were meant to live. A life without dieting, physically and mentally over-bearing express workout programs, boring protein shakes or other supplements and any other "quick solution". Great things take time! Just because you've earned a paycheck this week doesn't mean you stop going to working before next week...it's the same for fitness. Do it everyday and reap the benefits later on, with hopefully enough invested to enjoy an active and healthy retirement!
